Recommended Dosage of the Cialis Tablets

The recommended dosage is one 5 mg tablet of Cialis, taken once daily at around the same time each day. Depending on how you respond to Cialis, your doctor might adjust the dose to 2.5 mg, which will be provided as a 2.5 mg tablet. Remember, you should not take Cialis more than once in a day.

When you take Cialis once a day, it enables you to achieve an erection when sexually stimulated, at any time during the 24-hour period. This daily dosing can be particularly beneficial if you anticipate engaging in sexual activity two or more times per week.

Warnings and Precautions

Before starting Cialis, have a discussion with your doctor.

Be mindful that sexual activity can cause a risk if you have heart disease, as it adds extra strain on your heart. If you have any heart-related issues, it’s important to consult your doctor.

If you’re being treated for benign prostatic hyperplasia, your doctor will check for prostate cancer first, as it can share symptoms with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Note that Cialis does not treat prostate cancer.

Before taking Cialis, tell your doctor if you have any of the following conditions:

Sickle cell anaemia (a red blood cell abnormality).
Multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer).
Leukaemia (blood cell cancer).
Any deformation of your penis.
A serious liver problem.
A severe kidney problem.

Also, it’s important to inform your doctor if you have had:

Pelvic surgery

Removal of all or part of the prostate gland where prostate nerves were cut (radical non-nerve-sparing prostatectomy).

If you suddenly experience a decrease in vision, or distorted or dimmed vision while taking Cialis, stop taking it and contact your doctor immediately.

There have been cases of decreased or sudden hearing loss in some patients taking tadalafil. Although it’s not clear if it’s directly related to tadalafil, if you experience any changes in hearing while taking Cialis, stop using it and inform your doctor right away.

Cialis is not meant to be used by women.

Possible Side Effects of Cialis Tablets

Like any medicine, Cialis can cause side effects, though not everyone experiences them. Usually, these effects are mild to moderate.

If you encounter any of the following side effects, stop using the medicine and seek immediate medical help:

Allergic reactions, including rashes (uncommon).
Chest pain – do not take nitrates but seek immediate medical assistance (uncommon).
Priapism, a prolonged and possibly painful erection lasting more than 4 hours after taking Cialis (rare). Contact a doctor immediately if this occurs.
Sudden loss or significant decrease in vision, including distorted, dimmed, or blurred vision (rare or frequency not known).

Other reported side effects include:

Common (1 to 10 in every 100 patients):

Headache, back pain, muscle aches, pain in arms and legs, facial flushing, nasal congestion, indigestion.

Uncommon (1 to 10 in every 1,000 patients):

Dizziness, stomach ache, nausea, vomiting, reflux, blurred vision, eye pain, difficulty breathing, blood in urine, prolonged erection, fast heartbeat, high or low blood pressure, nosebleeds, ringing in the ears, swelling in hands, feet, or ankles, tiredness.

Can We Use Other Medicines with Cialis Tablets?

When using Cialis, it’s important to inform your doctor about any other medicines you are taking, have recently taken, or might take in the future.

Avoid taking Cialis if you are already on nitrates.

Certain medicines may interact with Cialis, affecting its effectiveness or being affected by it. Make sure to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any of the following:

An alpha blocker, which is typically used for treating high blood pressure or urinary symptoms related to benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Other medicines for high blood pressure.
Riociguat.

A 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, used for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Medicines like ketoconazole tablets (for fungal infections) and protease inhibitors are used in the treatment of AIDS or HIV infection.
Anticonvulsant medicines such as phenobarbital, phenytoin, and carbamazepine.
Antibiotics like rifampicin, erythromycin, clarithromycin, or itraconazole.
Other treatments for erectile dysfunction.

Can You Take Cialis Tablet with Alcohol?

If you have taken or are planning to take Cialis, it’s important for you to know that drinking alcohol can temporarily lower your blood pressure. To avoid any health risks, particularly the increased chance of feeling dizzy when you stand up, you should avoid excessive drinking, which means keeping your blood alcohol level below 0.08%. Being mindful of your alcohol intake while on Cialis is key for your safety and well-being.
