Recommended Dosage of the Avastin 100mg Injection

The dosage of Avastin 100mg Injection varies depending on the condition being treated. For ovarian cancer, for instance, the recommended dose is 15 mg/kg given intravenously every 3 weeks, used alongside carboplatin and paclitaxel for up to 6 cycles. After this, you’ll continue with Avastin 15 mg/kg every 3 weeks as a single agent, for a total of up to 22 cycles or until an earlier specified event occurs.

For recurrent platinum-resistant disease, the suggested dosage is 10 mg/kg intravenously every 2 weeks, in combination with paclitaxel. Then, Avastin should be continued at 15 mg/kg every 3 weeks as a single agent until the disease progresses. Remember, your dosage may need to be adjusted based on weight or other factors. Warnings and Precautions

Warnings:

Avastin may increase your risk of bleeding. If you experience any uncontrolled bleeding, seek emergency medical help immediately. You might also experience internal bleeding.

Contact your doctor if you notice symptoms like extreme weakness or dizziness, severe stomach pain, bloody or black stools, coughing up blood or vomit resembling coffee grounds, signs of a brain bleed like sudden numbness, weakness, slurred speech, severe headache, or issues with vision or balance.

Avastin can also interfere with wound healing, potentially causing bleeding or infection. Avoid using Avastin for 28 days before or after any planned surgery.

Be aware that Bevacizumab may lead to a rare but severe neurological disorder affecting the brain. Watch out for symptoms like headaches, confusion, vision problems, extreme fatigue, fainting, and seizures. These symptoms can appear soon after your first dose or up to a year after starting treatment. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of these side effects.

If you have a reaction to the Avastin infusion, such as dizziness, nausea, lightheadedness, sweating, itching, rapid heartbeat, chills, wheezing, or chest pain, inform your medical caregiver right away.

Precautions:

Gastrointestinal Perforations: Stop bevacizumab treatment if you develop perforations to prevent bacterial contamination and stomach infection.

Inspect Vials Before Use: Before preparing the injection, check the vial for particulate matter and discoloration. Discard it if the solution is cloudy, discolored, or has particulate matter.

Surgery Precautions: Hold off on Avastin for at least 28 days before elective surgery and do not administer it until at least 28 days after surgery.

Possible Side Effects of Avastin Injection

You might experience some side effects during the injection. If you feel dizzy, nauseated, lightheaded, itchy, sweaty, or have a headache, chest tightness, back pain, trouble breathing, or face swelling, tell your medical caregiver right away.

Avastin can cause a rare but serious neurological disorder affecting the brain. Symptoms could appear hours after your first dose or up to a year later. If you experience extreme fatigue, headache, confusion, vision problems, fainting, or seizures, contact your doctor immediately.

Avastin also makes bleeding more likely. If you notice easy bruising, unusual bleeding, or persistent bleeding, seek medical attention. Look out for signs of bleeding in your digestive tract like severe stomach pain, bloody or black stools, or vomiting blood, and symptoms of brain bleeding like sudden numbness, weakness, slurred speech, severe headache, or problems with vision or balance.

Some people on Avastin have experienced stomach, intestinal, throat, lung, gallbladder, kidney, bladder, or vaginal perforations or fistulas. If you have severe stomach pain or choking sensations when eating or drinking, inform your doctor.

Also, contact your doctor if you have slow wound healing, skin infections, missed menstrual periods, kidney problems (like swelling, less urination, tiredness, or shortness of breath), signs of a blood clot, heart problems, or low white blood cell counts (fever, mouth or skin sores, sore throat, cough).

Your cancer treatments might be delayed or stopped due to certain side effects.

Common side effects of Avastin may include increased blood pressure, headaches, back pain, dry or watery eyes, dry or flaky skin, nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, or altered taste.

Can We Use Other Medicines with Avastin 100mg Injection?

Avastin 100mg Injection can interact with various other drugs, including prescription medications, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Make sure to tell your doctor about every medicine you use.

Can Alcohol Drinker Take Avastin Injection?

While drinking alcohol doesn’t affect the way Avastin works, it might worsen certain side effects, such as headaches. Alcohol can also interact with some chemotherapy drugs that are often prescribed in combination with Avastin. Therefore, it’s important to talk with your doctor about whether it’s safe for you to drink alcohol while using Avastin.

Can You Take Avastin Injection If You’re Pregnant?
